Ukrainian drone swarms targeted the Kotelnikovo rail hub in the Volgograd region of Russia late Tuesday, striking three separate locations within the facility. Russian authorities confirmed the attack early Wednesday, describing it as an orchestrated effort by Ukraine to disrupt critical logistical infrastructure.

The Kotelnikovo hub, a key railway junction connecting southern Russia with other regions, has been a strategic target amid ongoing tensions. According to preliminary reports, no casualties have been reported, but the damage to infrastructure is being assessed as significant, potentially impacting freight movement in the region.

Russian defense officials condemned the attack, stating that Ukrainian UAVs employed coordinated swarms to overwhelm security measures. Kyiv has not officially claimed responsibility but has previously acknowledged conducting drone operations against Russian military and logistical targets.

The incident underscores the escalating use of drone technology in the conflict, highlighting a shift toward more sophisticated and coordinated strikes. As authorities investigate the attack’s full extent, questions remain about security measures at critical infrastructure sites in Russia and the broader implications for regional stability.
