Russian forces have gained control of less than 1% of Ukraine’s territory over the course of approximately 1,000 days of ongoing conflict. According to the open-source intelligence (OSINT) project Deep State, Russian advances since the start of the war have resulted in the seizure of about 5,842 square kilometers of Ukrainian land, representing roughly 0.97% of Ukraine’s total area.

The data highlights the limited territorial gains made by Russian forces relative to the size of Ukraine. Analysts from Deep State noted that as of November 12, these figures reflect the extent of territorial changes over the past several months, indicating that despite prolonged hostilities, Russian territorial gains remain relatively modest in scope.

The ongoing conflict has involved intense fighting, with significant armed confrontations in various regions. However, the recent figures suggest that Russia’s territorial expansion has been relatively constrained, and the situation on the ground continues to evolve amid international concern and ongoing negotiations.

These numbers provide context for understanding the current state of the war and the challenges facing both sides. As negotiations and military engagements persist, analysts and officials continue to monitor the territorial dynamics, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts in seeking a resolution.
