Belarusian officials have announced that the country’s multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), specifically the Polonez system, have the capability to be armed with nuclear warheads. Alexander Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, confirmed this development, highlighting ongoing assessments regarding the weapon system’s potential for nuclear deployment.

Volfovich also mentioned that Belarus is exploring the integration of Russian Oreshnik missile technology into its defense systems. This move indicates a continued deepening of military cooperation between Belarus and Russia, aimed at enhancing the country’s aerospace and missile capabilities.

The statements come amid broader regional security concerns, with Belarus emphasizing the modernization of its military arsenal. While details of the precise timelines and technical specifics remain undisclosed, the disclosures underscore Belarus’s focus on expanding its strategic military options in collaboration with its ally Russia.
