Yoshi, the dog belonging to Miguel Carmona, a Spanish volunteer who fought in Ukraine, has been returned to Spain following the death of his owner. Carmona, who traveled to Ukraine in 2025 to support local efforts, was killed in June during ongoing conflicts. After his death, Yoshi went missing, prompting an active search by Carmona’s family.

Eva Álvarez, Carmona’s widow, initiated efforts to locate Yoshi, concerned about the dog’s wellbeing after losing its owner. The search received support locally and through social media campaigns aimed at reuniting Yoshi with his family.

The dog’s return marks a poignant moment for Carmona’s relatives, who expressed relief at being able to bring Yoshi home. The family has not revealed specific details about the circumstances of the dog’s recovery, but the reunion is seen as a significant event amid the ongoing humanitarian and conflict-related challenges in Ukraine.
