North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced that developing artificial intelligence-powered drones has become a “top priority” for the country’s military advancements. The announcement comes after Kim personally observed testing of new drone prototypes at a factory in Pyongyang, according to state news agency KCNA.

During the visit, Kim reportedly examined the performance of the unmanned aerial vehicles and showed interest in their technological capabilities. Following his assessment, he directed officials to expand the mass production of these military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), emphasizing their importance for future defense strategies.

The move underscores North Korea’s focus on advancing its drone technology amid ongoing regional security concerns. Official reports suggest that these AI-enabled UAVs are intended to enhance surveillance, reconnaissance, and potential combat operations.

While details about the drones’ specifications and capabilities remain limited, North Korea’s emphasis on their development signals an increased prioritization of military modernization efforts. Experts will continue to monitor the country’s activities closely for further developments in its unmanned weapons program.
