The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have announced the killing of Major General Mohammed Ahmed El Khadr, the commander of the 6th Division of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). According to RSF sources, El Khadr was killed during ongoing clashes in the city of El Fasher, which has been under a prolonged siege for the past 17 months.
The RSF also confirmed that they have captured the strategic city of El Fasher from SAF control. The battle for El Fasher is part of the broader conflict between the RSF and SAF, which has significantly impacted stability in the region. The SAF’s commander linked to the Muslim Brotherhood was considered a key figure in the military leadership in the area.
The fighting continues to create a humanitarian crisis, with residents experiencing shortages of basic supplies and access to essential services. International calls for a ceasefire and dialogue have been increasing, but intense clashes persist in several parts of the country. The situation remains tense as both sides vie for control amid ongoing hostilities.
