Brussels Airport has temporarily suspended all flight operations following reports of drone activity in the area. The airport authorities initiated the halt to ensure safety amid ongoing concerns about unmanned aerial vehicles near the airfield.
As a precaution, several flights scheduled to depart from Brussels were diverted to Liège Airport. However, Liège also experienced disruptions when drone sightings were reported there, leading its authorities to shut down the airport temporarily.
In addition to Brussels and Liège, nearby Charleroi Airport has also suspended its flight activities, citing similar drone-related concerns. The widespread disruptions have affected numerous travelers and airlines operating in the region.
Authorities have yet to confirm who is responsible for the drone activity or the motives behind it. Investigations are ongoing, and officials are working to lift the restrictions once the area is deemed safe for flying.
