Cuba has reportedly supplied thousands of soldiers to support Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine, according to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate. The agency confirmed that at least 1,076 Cuban citizens are believed to have participated in combat on the side of Russia.

Among those documented, 96 individuals are reported to have been killed or are missing in action. Intelligence estimates indicate that the actual number of Cuban participants may be higher, though precise figures remain uncertain due to limited information availability.

The involvement of Cuban nationals in the conflict underscores complexities in the international dimensions of the Ukraine war, which has drawn numerous countries and volunteer fighters into the ongoing hostilities. Cuba has historically maintained a stance of non-intervention but has also been linked to support networks aligned with Russia’s interests.

Official statements from the Cuban government have not extensively addressed these reports. As the conflict continues, international observers are monitoring the scope of foreign involvement and its implications for regional and global security arrangements.
