Polish authorities have announced the discovery of a 60-meter-long tunnel near Narewka, situated close to the border with Belarus in the Podlasie region. The tunnel was identified beneath a border barrier, and its presence raises concerns about unauthorized crossings into Poland and the European Union.
According to the Polish Border Guard, the tunnel could have been used by up to 180 illegal migrants to enter the country clandestinely. Border security agencies are continuing investigations to determine the origin and purpose of the tunnel, as well as to identify those involved in its construction and use.
This development underscores ongoing challenges faced by Polish and neighboring border authorities in managing migration flows from Belarus. The authorities are expected to enhance surveillance and border security measures in response to this discovery to prevent further illegal crossings and ensure border integrity.
