A former Department of Justice (DOJ) official has accused two colleagues of “perverting justice” in connection with the agency’s handling of an antitrust settlement related to Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) $13 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks. The former official, who was dismissed from the DOJ, alleged that the colleagues’ actions may have compromised the integrity of the case.

According to the individual, the misconduct involved undue influence or inappropriate conduct during the settlement process, raising concerns about whether the antitrust review was conducted fairly. The official has called on the court to intervene and block the approval or completion of the HPE-Juniper deal amid these allegations.

The controversy underscores ongoing scrutiny of large tech and enterprise mergers and the role of regulatory agencies in overseeing competition. Both Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper Networks have yet to respond publicly to the allegations. Legal proceedings and investigations may follow as the court evaluates these claims and their implications for the merger.
