Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. During the discussion, the two leaders addressed bilateral relations and regional security concerns, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to manage tensions and promote dialogue in the South Caucasus region.

The meeting comes amidst ongoing geopolitical developments and fluctuating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. While specific agreements or outcomes from this informal engagement were not disclosed, such encounters are often viewed as opportunities to foster communication and explore avenues for peace.

Separately, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) announced the dissolution of the Minsk Group, which had been the primary diplomatic body mediating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for over three decades. The dissolution marks a significant shift in international efforts to resolve the dispute, with some analysts suggesting that new approaches may be needed moving forward.

As regional actors continue diplomatic engagements and international organizations reassess their roles, the focus remains on stabilizing the South Caucasus and fostering renewed peace initiatives between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
