Zimbabwe has released draft regulations for the creation of a National Climate Fund, aimed at supporting initiatives to address the impacts of climate change. The proposed fund is designed to mobilize resources for projects focused on climate mitigation, adaptation, and emergency response within the country.

The establishment of the fund comes amid increasing concerns about climate-related challenges, including droughts, floods, and other extreme weather events that have affected Zimbabwe’s agriculture and infrastructure. The draft regulations outline the governance and operational framework for the fund, with the goal of ensuring transparent and effective use of the resources allocated.

Officials hope the National Climate Fund will enhance Zimbabwe’s capacity to respond to climate emergencies and promote sustainable development. The government is currently consulting stakeholders and the public on the draft regulations before they are finalized and implemented. Once established, the fund is expected to play a key role in Zimbabwe’s broader climate resilience and environmental management strategies.
