Kyiv is currently experiencing its most severe energy crisis since the beginning of the conflict, according to city Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The mayor stated that the capital is receiving only about half of its necessary electricity supply amid ongoing Russian attacks targeting critical infrastructure.

The city, which has a population of approximately 3.6 million residents, normally requires around 1,700 megawatts of electricity to meet its daily needs. However, due to the disruptions caused by military strikes, local authorities report that the available supply is significantly below this requirement, leading to widespread power outages and disruptions.

Officials stress that the situation hampers efforts to maintain normal daily life and city operations. Despite these challenges, Kyiv’s authorities continue to work with national energy providers to restore and stabilize the power grid. The extent of the damage and the duration of the crisis remain uncertain, but officials emphasize that restoring reliable electricity supplies is a top priority amidst ongoing hostilities.
